Atomica: Quantum state, electron configuration and wavefunction render for element 117 (Tennessine).
Quantum state, electron configuration and wavefunction render for element 117 (Tennessine).

The problem

Quantum chemistry lives in equations most people never get to see. Orbitals and probability clouds are inherently visual, yet they are taught as abstractions.

The approach

I combined physics simulation, mathematical visualization and real-time interaction to render orbitals, probability clouds, wavefunctions and energy levels in 3D, for every element on the periodic table.

The result

A simulator that turns quantum chemistry into something you can rotate, probe and explore, element by element, in the browser.
